European Forum for Victim Services

The European Forum for Victim Services was set up in 1990 to promote the development of effective services for victims of crime throughout Europe;  promote fair and equal compensation for all victims of crime throughout Europe, regardless of the nationality of the victim concerned; and  promote the rights of victims of crime in Europe in their involvement with the criminal justice process and with other agencies. The European Forum, established in 1990, now has 17 member organizations from 15 countries. The European Forum has no website of its own.

National Organisation for Victim Assistance (NOVA)

This US-based private, non-profit victims rights and advocacy organization highlights the plight of crime victims and the need for legislative reform, provides direct services to victims (crisis intervention counselling, victim advocacy, referral of victims to services near their home), organizes training programs and conferences, and disseminates information to assist victim advocates and allied professionals. NOVA works locally and nationally, and increasingly on an international level. The site contains valuable resources for professional and volunteer victim service providers and links to many related pages.

Comprehensive communications, information and networking resource for victim assistance specialists, professionals in related disciplines and all interested in the field of victimology; the resource serves the world victim assistance/victimology community, but is physically located in Ontario, Canada. VA Online has an extensive directory of e-mail discussion lists which victim assistance workers might find useful or informative.
 
 

Victim Support - UK

Victim Support is the national charity for victims of crime in the UK. They provide people affected by crime with support and information to help them deal with their experience and ensures that their rights are acknowledged and advanced in all aspects of criminal justice and social policy. People are referred to Victim Support by the police and other organisations or make direct contact themselves to ask for help. The site provides extensive information about the services available; a directory of local schemes for England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Eire, Channel Isles, International; how to become a Victim Support volunteer; links and resources, and more.
