The Legal Process

Appeals

In certain circumstances the accused is able to appeal against either his/her conviction or his/her sentence. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has a right to appeal in certain circumstances. This right will always be exercised with restraint and only where there is a reasonable prospect of success.
If you feel that the Director of Public Prosecutions should appeal then you might write to the Director asking him to consider an appeal.  The decision, however, whether to appeal is made by the Director, who is not obliged to comply with your request.
