From Rhetoric to Realisation - an Early Years Agenda
There is clear evidence that further extension of early
intervention strategies would be a cost-effective investment for
promoting the wellbeing of Australian young people - provided certain
conditions are met. But how widely is this message understood by the
media and other opinion leaders, by policy makers, by service
providers and by ordinary
Australians?
The development of an agenda for the early years will need to address
the conditions that will maximise early intervention's success,
promote a climate that will make success more likely and highlight the
enormous social costs of doing nothing other than maintain the status
quo.
